Apricot Tsarsky is one of the most suitable varieties for cultivation in the conditions of home gardening in the Moscow Region and neighboring regions. Fruiting mixed type occurs in the fourth year after vaccination. The variety description declares high frost resistance of the apricot and the universal use of the harvested crop.

Breed cultivation

The variety is represented by a seedling in the second or third generation of its own, obtained as a result of free pollination. The authors of the Tsar’s apricot are A.K. Skvortsov and L.A. Kramarenko. The originator of the variety is the Main Botanical Garden. The variety was included in the state register more than ten years ago and earned high marks and numerous positive reviews from gardeners in the Central and neighboring regions.

Variety Description and Characterization

Apricot called "Royal" of medium height, not more than four meters, with moderate growth power. Annual shoots are characterized by moderate branching. Lush flowering, large white flowers.

The average mass of marketable fruit is 20.5-22.5 g. Apricots have an oval shape, covered with a thick, pubescent yellow skin. Sometimes on the surface there may be a slight attractive blush.

The pulp is a very pleasant orange color, with sufficient density. At the stage of complete ripening, the fruits are distinguished by a juicy and delicate, sweet and sour taste and a pronounced apricot aroma. The stone is not large, it is very easily separated from the ripe pulp.

The advantages of the Tsarsky variety are the high quality characteristics of fully ripened fruits, as well as good productivity and excellent adaptation to adverse soil or weather factors. The minor disadvantages of the variety include the formation of not large enough fruits.

How to grow apricots in the middle lane

Protecting plantations from aphids and diseases

The most dangerous pests of the Tsarsky apricot are plum aphids and a variety of small rodents. More rarely, fruit stands are damaged by the black plum sawfly, plum moth and spider mites. In order to maximize the effective protection of apricot trees from pests and diseases, a set of measures of a different nature is required:

  • agrotechnical;
  • mechanical;
  • biological;
  • chemical.

The combined use of the above methods allows to accelerate the growth and development of fruit trees, as well as protect apricot plantings from the harmful effects of various pathogenic organisms.

In the early spring, even before the buds opened on the plants, a single apricot treatment with “Preparation No. 30” was carried out with a solution flow rate of approximately 40-50 liters per hectare of garden areas. A solution of copper sulfate is also used for early spring spraying before the stage of budding. Before the flowering stage, with a weekly interval between treatments, you can use the drug "Chorus" with a flow rate of 2-3.5 g per 10 l of warm water. After flowering, the apricot crown is sprayed with a solution based on the effective BI-58 preparation.

Double spraying of garden plantings during the growing season “Karbofos”, which should be diluted at the rate of 55 g per bucket of water, has good results. If necessary, “Karbofos” can be replaced by “Zolon”, “Sumition”, “Decis”, “Fazalon” or concentrated emulsion “Samurai”.

Gardeners reviews about the variety

Apricot called "Royal" forms a small oblong fruit with a small attractive blush and juicy sweet and sour flesh. They are great as raw materials for winter harvesting. The stone occupies no more than 10% of the total volume of the fetus. Fruit ripening in areas with a mild and warm climate is early and occurs in the first decade of August. Fruiting is observed on all types of shoots. Harvested has good keeping quality.

How to plant an apricot

Gardeners note: despite the fact that the yield indicators are average, fruit production is stable and annual. In the phase of active fruiting, grafted fruit stands enter the third or fourth year after vaccination. A sufficiently good level of winter hardiness and frost resistance allows you to grow productive apricot trees in the middle lane of our country.
